Claude Code lives in your terminal and your codebase. Developers use it to read a repo, write and edit code, run tests, kill bugs, and ship features. It assumes you are comfortable with branches, flags, and a command line that does not explain itself, and it pays you back with serious control over software work.

If your day is pull requests, build pipelines, and an editor with 14 tabs open, Code is home. It is the more technical one, on purpose.

What Claude Cowork is for

Cowork runs in the Claude desktop app, where most actual office work happens: local files, folders, and the apps you already use. You point it at a folder, say what you want, and it works across your stuff to produce a finished deliverable. No terminal. No code. No chopping the task into 30 sequential prompts.
